WEST CREDIT RIVER APPRECIATION, REHABILITATION AND ENHANCEMENT (WeCARE) PROJECT (Greg Clark Chapter)

This committee developed and submitted a three year project work plan involving community outreach, education, stream rehabilitation and enhancement, volunteer engagement and training opportunities, ecological monitoring, and private landowner stewardship activities. The WeCARE Project is guided by and an over-arching goal: "To work in the West Credit River watershed with the communities of Erin, Hillsburgh and Belfountain and their residents to further their appreciation of the river and assist them in undertaking programs that protect and enhance the health of the local environment."

The work undertaken by the group is facilitated by a paid, full-time project coordinator. The Ontario Trillium Foundation has provided funding of $123,800 for the WeCARE Project from August2005 to December of 2007. In-kind support and expertise/knowledge and steering committee representation are provided by all active partners in the project.
