Water Quality Assessment
WATER QUALITY ASSESSMENT OF AN IMPOUNDMENT IN LONDON, ONTARIO (Forks of the Thames Chapter)
The purpose of this project is to assess the water quality of the Thames River in London, Ontario, and specifically evaluate the potential effects of the impoundment above Springbank Dam on the water quality of the river system. On the upstream side of the dam, there are spawning sites for a wide range of fish species including brown trout, steelhead, chinook salmon, coho salmon, smallmouth bass, walleye, northern pike, the rare spotted sucker (only 60 of them reported in Canada) and the black sucker.
The chapter wanted to find out what the e.coli levels are in the Springbank Dam headpond so that we can compare them to the limits set out by the Provincial Government.
