Pincher Creek PINCHER CREEK RIPARIAN HABITAT PROTECTION AND REHABILITATION DEMONSTRATION PROJECT The Oldman River Chapter mission is top reserve the coldwater resources in southwestern Alberta. The chapter is seeking expanded partnerships with groups in the area to work cooperatively on rehabilitation and conservation to achieve their mission.
The chapter is aware of riparian degradation on Pincher Creek and feels improvements along the watershed are warranted. The chapter is therefore cooperating with the Pincher Creek Watershed Group to work collaboratively on the demonstrations along Pincher Creek. This is a prime example of collaboration between the Pincher Creek Watershed Group, the Oldman River Chapter and landowners along Pincher Creek. | The overall objectives of this project are: | | • | To educate the community and public at large on how improving the health of the Pincher Creek watershed improves the health of humans, animals and ecosystems; | | • | To collect baseline watershed information, both historical and present day, including water flow, water quality and riparian health; | | • | To implement management practices that will result in a healthy watershed. | | The immediate objectives of the proposed demonstration sites will be to: | | • | Provide landowners with some solutions to the problems they may face on their own landholdings; | | • | To demonstrate one of four methods of off-stream livestock watering systems in four distinct topographical areas of the watershed. | For more information on this or any other CCFund project, contact Brian Meagher.
