What We Believe Cold clean water is important for people as well as fish: TUC believes that cold, clean water is an important building block for creating healthy communities and healthy people. We believe that the existence of healthy fish populations indicates healthy habitat which in turn indicates the existence of abundant cold, clean water.
Use the funds we are entrusted with wisely: We believe that all of the work we choose to do must be directed at the mission of TUC – to conserve, protect and restore Canada’s freshwater ecosystems and their coldwater resources for current and future generations. We do on the ground restoration projects. We do scientific research related to our mission. We educate Canadians, especially Canadian young people, about issues related to our mission. Our small group of staff works very hard to ensure that funds are spent wisely and that we are effective and efficient in our work. Work cooperatively: We believe we will accomplish the most by working hard and by working cooperatively, by being seen as a reasonable voice on environmental issues. Our partners and supporters include many other non-profit organisations, all levels of government, landowners and with many of the corporations that work in the landscapes we care about. We strive to be seen as an organisation that concentrates on helping to find and implement solutions, rather than one that focuses on talking about the problems. While we do a small amount of advocacy work, TUC is not an advocacy organisation. Our focus is and will always be on science, physical on the ground projects and on education. On some matters directly related to our mission, our Board of Directors have provided leadership by passing resolutions to confirm TUC’s official policies. Those polices are as follows: |
