Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

You are invited to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, running from September 15-23, 2012.  A joint conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and WWF, the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup is a direct action program that promotes the understanding of shoreline litter issues by engaging Canadians to rehabilitate shoreline areas through cleanups.

This event is entirely volunteer-driven, and encourages Canadians in every province and territory to either organize or take part in a cleanup of a lake, river, stream, wetland or ocean shoreline in their community.  The WWF and Vancouver Aquarium partnership provides free cleanup data cards and instructions including supplementary resources to all of our participants.

Because local cleanups provide an excellent opportunity for communities to work together to beautify public spaces, the cleanups often receive great support from municipal governments and offices.

The Central Alberta chapter is participating in this year's event on Sunday September 9, 2012 from 12:30-3:30 pm at the Kerry Wood Nature Center.  For more information on this event please click here.
