Knee Deep in Mill Creek

Trout Unlimited Canada summer staff and Ontario Biologist Silvia D’Amelio aided volunteers from the Ted Knott Chapter in the installation of cedar sweepers into Mill Creek.

As the sun blazed down in Cayuga, Ontario, the work was focused on redirecting flow to a single channel in a braided portion the creek. By redirecting flow to a single channel  the water volume and velocity are increased, creating more stable bank structure and higher quality aquatic habitat.

Standing knee deep in cool running water was the perfect tonic for hot late spring day.
