Bronte Creek Workday

Trout Unlimited Canada had a great group of volunteers out on September 12th for a workday in Lowville Park, Bronte Creek.

TUC would like to thank everyone who came out for their enthusiasm and help.  It was especially encouraging to see so many young people out for the workday and it was a very dynamic group with a great mix of new and veteran volunteers working together.   The volunteers cleared some rock weirs and made sure that the riffles were clear.  This will ensure that the soon to migrate salmon will be able to traverse the creek in the park on the way to their spawning grounds.  Additionally volunteers did some touch-up work on the structures and bank stabilization work that was completed early this summer.

While this was the last instream workday for Lowville Park this year, we have many tree-planting workdays planned for this fall so please stay tuned to the Bronte Creek blog for more information.
