A 2006 CCFUND PROJECT

BANK ARMOURING AND RIPARIAN DISTURBANCE QUANTIFICATION PROJECT
(Trout Unlimited Canada and Applied Aquatics)
Currently, there is no comprehensive record of the extent to which bank armouring has occurred on the Elbow, Sheep and Highwood rivers. Furthermore, there are many areas where unauthorized bank armouring has occurred that has gone undetected for years. To provide a benchmark of the extent to which banks have been armoured along these rivers, an inventory will be conducted by canoe to locate, photograph and measure bank armouring encountered along each river.
Concurrent with this survey, it will also be possible to photograph and document the health of riparian habitat along the river to identify areas that are badly degraded and in need of action to avoid problems.
